UNIVERSAL CITY, CA – September 9, 2019 – NBC4/KNBC announced today that Marina Perelman has been named Assistant News Director. Perelman, who brings nearly 20 years of broadcast television experience to the role, will report directly to Renee Washington, Vice President of News. Perelman will begin her new post immediately.
Perelman has held several roles with increasing responsibilities at NBC4. As Executive Producer for the station’s 11 p.m. newscast since 2013, she strategically led a dynamic team of journalists to boost the station’s ratings into a leading market position. She has also successfully managed NBC4’s exclusive Olympics coverage, guiding the station’s “Today in LA” morning show in its live broadcast from Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Summer Olympics. Perelman also directed the news team in the coverage of the 2016 Presidential Election broadcasting live from Washington D.C. Last year, she helped manage the award-winning Investigative Team at NBC4.

Promoted to Managing Editor in 2017, Perelman oversaw daily editorial with a laser-sharp emphasis on breaking news. Known for her assertive news gathering style, she was instrumental in delivering up-to-the-minute reports across all NBC4 news platforms in the aftermath of the Borderline shooting in Thousand Oaks and the Woolsey fire.
Perelman’s passion for news is evident throughout her career. Perelman has been part of the NBC owned stations group since joining NBC Bay Area in 2005. She also has been recognized with several LA-area Emmys and other awards for her work at NBC4.
Perelman earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Southern California and was one of the founding members of the school’s prestigious daily broadcast Annenberg TV News. She immigrated to Southern California from Yerevan, Armenia in 1981 and speaks Russian.
A proud mother of a one-year old child, Perelman spends her free time with her family taking hikes in Los Angeles and traveling internationally. She is passionate about the arts and enjoys exploring Southern California’s diverse communities.
