MICHAEL LESSLIE TO PEN UCP'S 'BATTLESTAR GALACTICA' FOR PEACOCK

Michael Lesslie (“The Little Drummer Girl”) is set to pen Peacock’s upcoming BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series from UCP, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios.

From the mind of Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail comes a series that explores a new story within the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA mythology, the eponymous TV show that saw humanity at war with Cylons, machines of their own creation.

Lesslie will write and executive produce the series. Esmail and Chad Hamilton will executive produce via their overall with UCP.

Lesslie is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright and producer. He has written scripts for “Macbeth” and “Assassin’s Creed,” both directed by Justin Kurzel, and served as showrunner for the legendary director Park Chan-Wook’s television debut “The Little Drummer Girl.” “Macbeth,” which premiered at Cannes, and “The Little Drummer Girl” both garnered critical acclaimed and were nominated for several major international awards. He balances film and television with his stage work, which has been performed at the Royal National Theatre, in the West End and beyond.

Lesslie also co-founded Storyteller Productions with PJ van Sandwijk in order to bring bold new stories to life and to encourage emerging voices. They have a powerful slate, developing and producing drama and documentary projects with Ron Howard, Doug Liman, William Nicholson, Guy Ritchie, Errol Morris, Steven Knight, Alex Gibney and Polly Stenham, to name a few.

Lesslie is represented by Grandivew, Cassarotto, and Frankfurt Kurnit.
