The First Democratic Debate will air exclusively on NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo in Primetime on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27 at 9 P.M. ET
Miramar, FL – (June 24, 2019) – NBC 6 / WTVJ today announced the plan for local coverage of The First Democratic Debate. The station will partner with PolitiFact, a nonprofit fact-checking service operated by the Poynter Institute, for in-depth analysis. The two-night debate, sanctioned by the Democratic National Committee, will air at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27 from the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
Below is a breakdown of NBC 6’s local coverage:
NBC 6 Partners with PolitiFact – NBC 6 News will partner with PolitiFact to fact check candidates before and after the debates. In addition, NBC 6 News will have complete team coverage in the 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts live and on location both days.
Live Special Editions of Impact with Jackie Nespral and Jawan Strader – NBC 6 will air special editions of Impact on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m. Co-hosted by NBC 6 Anchors Jackie Nespral and Jawan Strader, the half-hour shows will feature NBC 6 team coverage with reporters Steve Litz and Willard Shepard live from the Adrienne Arsht Center and contributions from Managing Editor of PolitiFact Florida Katie Sanders and FIU’s Political Analyst Kathryn DePalo. In addition, on Wednesday’s edition, Willard Shepard will speak with NBC Meet The Press’ Chuck Todd who will offer a preview to the debate.
Digital Coverage – NBC 6 will stream the full debates along with all NBC 6 News and political coverage on NBC6.com and the NBC 6 App. Coverage will also include digital-only reports from the Adrienne Arsht Center on Facebook, Instagram and the NBC 6 YouTube channel.
NBC 6 will host a 2020 Democratic Debate Watch Party on Facebook where young people and first-time voters will react to the debate in real time.
