SAN JOSE, CA – (August 8, 2019) – Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia/KSTS announced today that Carlos Yustis will join the station as sports anchor for “Noticiero Telemundo 48.” Yustis, whose first day at the station will be on September 3, will join sports anchor Carlos Ramirez, in delivering the latest in local sports news to the Hispanic community in the Bay Area.
Yustis’ Emmy award-winning career has taken him worldwide covering some of the world’s most prestigious sporting events in a variety of roles. Most recently, he reported from France for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and in 2018 he traveled to Moscow, Russia to cover the FIFA World Cup.
“Carlos brings a wealth of experience at both the local and national levels having covered some of the world’s biggest sporting events,” said Rossyris Silva, Vice President of News at Telemundo 48. “He also brings a unique perspective to the sports desk having been an athlete himself. We are excited to welcome him to our news team here at Telemundo 48 and welcome him to the Bay Area.”

Yustis previously served as the sports anchor for KTLM Telemundo 40 in McAllen, Texas. Prior to that he worked as a producer for Telemundo Network from 2010 to 2016 where he covered the London Olympics in 2012 and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games from Rio de Janiero, Brazil as reporter and sociaI media content creator.
Yustis has also served as analyst for FIFA U-17, U20, Women's and Beach Soccer World Cups in 2015, as well as the Futsal World Cup and CONCACAF qualifiers in 2016 for TelemundoDeportes.com. In 2010 he helped deliver coverage of the FIFA World Cup South Africa as a sports producer for Telefutura.
In addition to his on-air work, Yustis was a semi-professional player for Mexico’s U-15 National Soccer Team and for Club Deportivo Cruz Azul both in Mexico City. He has also managed several soccer teams.
Yustis earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications from Florida International University. He was awarded a national Emmy award in 2014 for Outstanding Live Sports Coverage in Spanish.
