Boxeo Telemundo Premieres this Friday, October 4 at 11:35 p.m. ET with a Classic Puerto Rico vs. Mexico Showdown Featuring Rising WBO #8 Junior Welterweight Contender Yomar "The Magic" Alamo Facing Antonio "Toño" Moran Escobar for the WBO/NABO title

Miami – September 30, 2019  “Boxeo Telemundo,”  the #1 Spanish-language boxing program in the U.S., returns with its fall installment set to premiere this Friday, October 4 with a classic battle between Puerto Rico and Mexico. Rising WBO #8 junior welterweight contender Yomar "The Magic" Alamo will face Antonio "Toño" Moran Escobar in a 10-round bout for the WBO/NABO title. The event will broadcast live on Telemundo at 11:35 p.m. ET, from the Kissimmee, FL.

For four consecutive weeks, all fights will be broadcast live on Telemundo and live streamed on Telemundo Deportes En Vivo app with additional extensive news and content on, including access to the weigh-in and exclusive behind-the-scenes content. In addition, short form content that include fighters, behind the scenes and news will be produced exclusively for Telemundo Deportes' social media platforms using the hashtag #BoxeoTelemundo.

“Boxeo Telemundo” is hosted by veteran boxing expert and Florida Boxing Hall of Famer Rene Giraldo, alongside Edgar Lopez and World Boxing Champion and former Olympian Abner Mares.

The show will wrap up its 30th anniversary year with special content across platforms throughout the four-week season. Each week, "Boxeo Telemundo" will feature segments dedicated to the anniversary celebration that takes viewers back to some of the show’s most memorable moments including the best fights and stories of renowned boxers featured. 

In the season opener, Puerto Rican Rising junior welterweight contender Yomar "The Magic" Alamo (17-0 12 KOs) will be making his second junior welterweight WBO/NABO title defense after his win in February of this year when he made his successful debut on "Boxeo Telemundo" over spoiler Manuel Mendez. Also known as the Pride of Aguas Buenas, Alamo will look to close out the year with another title defense and a step closer to a world title opportunity.

On the other side of the ring, Mexican Antonio "Toño" Moran Escobar is looking to rebound from his knockout defeat against lightweight sensation Devin Haney back in May. Moran, is 4-0 as a Telemundo Headliner, winning the WBO Latino belt in his reign.

“Boxeo Telemundo” will continue October 11 with a WBC flyweight title bout live from Mexico City, featuring current champion Ganigan “Maravilla” Lopez (36-9 19 KOs) facing Armando “Alacrán” Torres (21-18 18 KOs.) On October 18, Emanuel “Pinky” Colon (16-1 15 KOs) squares off against Richard “Diamante” Zamora (19-3 12 KOs) in New York for a regional lightweight title. The show ends its fall season in Mexico with Mauricio “Trompas” Pintor (22-3-1 14 KOs) defending his WBC Welterweight Latino tittle against John Karl Sosa (14-3 7 KOs.)

Debuting in 1989, “Boxeo Telemundo” has grown to become the #1 combat sports program in the U.S. among Hispanics, across broadcast and cable landscape. Since its launch, “Boxeo Telemundo” has broadcast over 350 title fights, showcasing some of the biggest boxing stars as they rose to stardom and won their first championship titles, earning a reputation as the show “where champions are born." Among these stars is Saúl Canelo Alvarez, who won his first pro boxing title on “Boxeo Telemundo” in 2008. Other notable Champions featured include  Juan Manuel Marquez,  Diego Corrales, Carlos Maussa,  Floyd Mayweather,  Israel Vázquez,  Wilfredo Vázquez,  Rafael Ruelas,  Jorge Solis and many others.
