The Special Encore Presentation that Airs Friday, May 8 at 12 a.m. ET Tracks the Rise of Vazquez Jr. on the Road to His World Title Shot

Miami – May 5, 2020 – Boxeo Telemundo, the #1 Spanish-language boxing program in the U.S., continues its special encore presentations this Friday, May 8 at 12 a.m. ET with the story behind the rise of Wilfredo “Papito” Vazquez Jr and the road to his World Tittle shot, following the footsteps of his father, a legitimate Puerto Rican legend and three-time World Boxing Champ, Wilfredo Vazquez.

Boxeo Telemundo will be broadcast on Telemundo and streamed on the Telemundo Deportes app highlighting the best bouts around each story and featuring special commentary from the experts to provide viewers with insights and anecdotes. Additional extensive news and content on, including the fighters’ best moments following each episode.

Florida Boxing Hall of Famer Rene Giraldo and Edgar Lopez will relive Wilfredo Vasquez Jr.’s career highlights with a show-stopping bout from September 12, 2008 as he squared off against Adolfo Landeros for the Titulo Super Gallo Interino OMB, marking the first title of his career. Later that year, Vasquez Jr. faced Victor Martinez in a fight that went on to mark his first title defense and led him to claim victory for the WBO Super Bantamweight title twice later in 2011 vs. Jorge Arce and in 2012 vs. Nonito Donaire.

Boxeo Telemundo will continue its featured encores on Friday, May 15 with the trajectory of Orlando “El Fenomeno” Cruz topped off with exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and stories from the on-air talent. The special season wraps ups on May 22 with a special highlighting the beginnings of 4-division champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
