“WERESCUE” APP CONNECTS PET LOVERS WITH “CLEAR THE SHELTERS” ADOPTABLE PETS

WeRescue teams up with NBC and Telemundo owned stations to help people find adoptable pets at rescue/animal shelters ahead of August 17 – Clear The Shelters Day

NEW YORK – (July 22, 2019) – With less than one month left until Clear The Shelters Day August 17, the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal (NBC and Telemundo owned stations) today announced that it has teamed up with “WeRescue”, a free mobile iOS app, to make it easy for people to find pets that will be available for adoption through the stations’ 2019 Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign. WeRescue users can activate specific Clear The Shelters in-app features to help them locate pets available for adoption in shelters/rescues in their communities and all across the U.S. This year, NBC and Telemundo owned stations’ Clear The Shelters campaign will take place in more than 160 communities and include the participation of over 1,100 animal shelters/rescues. Since 2015, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear The Shelters campaign has helped more than a quarter million pets find new homes.

“We’re excited to team up with WeRescue to give even more people an opportunity to search for their new furry friend through the WeRescue app, and discover what a pet’s unconditional love is all about. Finding your new best friend during Clear The Shelters has never been this easy,” said Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

“From the beginning, the goal of the WeRescue app has been to help more people rescue the love of their lives at a nearby pet shelter. The app does this by making available over 70 filters to allow adopters to be very specific about the pet that will match their lifestyle. We are thrilled to partner with NBC and Telemundo owned stations for their Clear The Shelters campaign, to make it easy for anyone to browse the pet listings in our app, pre-apply with a shelter before Clear The Shelters Day, and find the right pet for them,” said Mark Wade, Founder and CEO, WeRescue.

WeRescue’s two new in-app features are designed to showcase Clear The Shelter adoptable pets. The first feature is a Clear The Shelters “tab” that allows users to find local participating shelters, and a list of pets that are available for adoption (complete with pet images and information), based on the user’s zip code. The second feature is a Clear The Shelters “filter” that includes listings of adoptable pets from more than 1,100 participating shelters/rescues. Through the filter, users will be able to find a pet by searching for specific breeds, gender, age and size. The filter will also allow users to search for pets that are “good with children,” “trained” or “hypoallergenic,” among others. WeRescue’s “Clear The Shelters” in-app features will also allow users to contact shelters and begin the pet adoption process directly through each shelter/rescue. The app features dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, horses, reptiles, barnyard animals, and other small animals.
